English
This term students are continuing to learn about narratives (stories). We are exploring the structure of a narrative, purpose of a narrative, identifying what happened in the beginning, middle and end of a narrative.

New this term, students are learning about procedures. We are exploring the structure of procedures, purpose of procedures and language features of procedures. If you are cooking with your child have them describe what you are doing by saying a command sentence (sprinkle the grated cheese all over the base). Encourage them to describe the ingredients (2 green sliced apples as apposed to apples). Discus the importance of writing accurate measurements (if you add too much flour the batter will be dry if you don't add enough it will be too wet).
Mathematics
This term students are learning:
Measuring length and capacity using informal unit (block/ cups of sand)

Telling time to the hour and half hour.
Connecting events with times of the day.

Describing the duration of events.
​
Representing numbers to 100 using numerals, words, tens frames, MAB's and partitioning
​
Counting to 100 in 1's, 2's 5's and 10's

Science
This term students are learning about landscapes and the sky. We are exploring the features of landscapes and the sky (trees, clouds, helicopter, sun and rain). We are exploring how they change and the impact these changes have on what we do.
HASS
This semester students are learning about important dates and changes in our lives. We are exploring how aspects of our daily lives and objects we use have changed or stayed the same over time.
